About BAWCSWS
Barrackpore Avenue Women’s Cultural & Social Welfare Society is a non-profit, voluntary organisation working with relentless effort for the overall improvement of human lives, irrespective of age, gender, religious beliefs, and caste or ethnic origin. The organisation was started in 2001 with Registration No. S/1L/6598 of 2001 under the West Bengal Society Registration Act.
We have been working for the past 18 years in the field of child rights, women’s empowerment, livelihood generation, health care and welfare for homeless elderly people.
From the Founder
For over two decades years, BAWCSWS has been committed to improving the lives of society’s most vulnerable—elderly individuals, orphaned children, and women facing abuse and neglect. Many of those we serve come from heartbreaking circumstances, including abandonment, extreme poverty, or life on the streets. Our goal is not only to provide shelter, food, and care, but also to restore dignity, emotional well-being, and a sense of belonging.
Our work extends beyond direct relief. We actively collaborate with government service providers to address domestic violence and gender-based abuse, offering support and intervention to survivors. In addition, we promote safer workplaces through POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) awareness and Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) training, helping institutions create respectful and secure environments for women.
None of this would be possible without the unwavering support of our donors, partners, and well-wishers. From individuals to corporate sponsors and institutions, their continued belief in our mission enables us to reach those most in need.
Looking forward, we remain committed to working closely with local authorities and communities to identify emerging needs and strengthen our impact. Together, through compassion and collaboration, we can build a more just, inclusive, and humane society—where no one is left behind.
By fostering robust partnerships and harnessing collective efforts, we endeavor to ensure that no individual is overlooked or left behind in our pursuit of a more compassionate and inclusive society. We extend a heartfelt invitation to our supporters to continue accompanying us on this transformative journey, as together; we strive to effect meaningful and sustainable change in the lives of those who stand most in need of our compassion and support.
